Week 30 update

In my previous update post here at the end of 2020,  I was working on block no 13.

Right now we are on block #29. (at the time I’m writing this)

And it is this gorgeous basket quilt block. I love basket quilt blocks.

29 blocks are plenty already, and the blocks are stacking up. My fabric is running low too. My plan is to use it all up even the scraps on the back of the quilt later on.

Learning new things

I learned to pin a lot. I think I am now a pinner too. I learned a lot of things from the Friday Live session of this sew-along. Some things I already know but didn’t really care to do before, but now that I tried it, it has become a new habit.

I also added a different line of fabric to this and I found a good match. These are from two different fabric lines and different companies, but they suit so well together.

Some of the blocks were definitely fun and challenging to make like this one next to that basket block. That one was tough but surely pretty.

While some were easy and took no time at all to be pieced together. Like these ones. They’re pretty too.

When sewing these easy ones in the week they released the pattern, I also do a catch-up time on blocks that I missed to sew in the week they released.

Sometime I only have 5 minutes to cut, so I cut a few blocks I missed and placed them in this file.

When I have another few minutes slot of time, I bring it to my machine to sew it together.

I find that lately, this slot of time is usually my coffee time. So, often time I have coffee with me when I am in the sewing room.

I do love doing sew along and Block of the Months. It is proof that quilts, can be made one small steps at a time. And I love that we get to tackle new things each time we make a new block. I do get bored easily, and working with many projects at a time seems to fit me well.

How about you?

Do you like Block Of the Months (BOM) or Quilt-alongs?

If you are working on one, let me know which one are you doing at the moment.
