The year 2022 review, Quilting Projects I worked on this year.

I reviewed back on what I worked on this year or at least the one that has been blogged about. Because honestly,  I don’t really remember what’s being done in what year if I don’t keep the record on the blog.

That is one of the reasons I love blogging. It is a journal of all the things that were made in my sewing room.

This year I realized I haven’t finished as many quilts, but life with a 2-year-old, 6 and 11-year boys plus a full-time job is a handful already.

Crafting for my mental health.

I am blessed to call my quilting time, my “me time”. The time when I get to just have a mental escape.

I have been anxious a lot this year with more responsibility at work, so lots of break were definitely needed.

I am so thankful that I can still take those breaks, and recharged through my sewing.

Getting things done and making things with your hand is truly satisfying and can surely improve the overall being. I feel relaxed and can just have fun.

So here goes, here are all the projects I got done this year!

Although some of these projects are not fully completed yet, at least they have reached a big milestone like becoming a quilt flimsy (a quilt top that has not been quilted).

I see a lot of machine quilting in the coming year but I have also been enjoying piecing so much this year that I can’t say I won’t start many new projects this coming year.

We’ll see. Anyway, here’s to 2022:

You can click each header to read more about the projects. They’re all linked to a post and many of these are linked to FREE patterns or tutorials.

Heart Quilt Together Quilt – Flimsy

I still can’t believe I haven’t quilted this! This was done early in the year of 2022, and I had so much fun piecing it using strip piecing techniques.

I guess I am contemplating adding the final border around it. I usually don’t buy large amounts of yardage so I didn’t have any that suits in my stash. The fabrics for the blocks were mixed and matched from my stash.

Hopefully, I can get this one done in January!

I can see cute little hearts and loops as the quilting design. Time to get doodling!

Ribbon Quilt

Here’s a fun quick baby quilt using a few fat quarters. I made this one for my friend’s niece. It was commissioned which I rarely do. Once a year is okay for me. This was free pattern. You can read more details about the quilt in this blog post HERE>

All the trimmings Quilt

I finished quilting this one this year. The quilt top was done last year but I got it all bound this year. There’s a tutorial on how to do clamshell quilting with a domestic machine using ruler HERE>

Home Sweet Home Cross stitch

Okay, this one is not quilting, but I know many who quilt and cross stitch too! I had just started cross-stitching again and found so much joy in it. Watching floss tube has been a lot of fun too.

This year, I only got two cross-stitch finish but I hadn’t posted about the other one. This was one of them. I’ll post the one soon.

I can see more cross-stitch projects in the future.

Jelly Roll Rug

For September Jelly Roll Day, I sewed up this Jelly Roll Rug! It can brighten up any room and was surely a fun project this year.

Layer Cake Spool Flimsy

This was a project that came together with very little planning. I wanted to make an easy quilt in between other projects that I had. Since this pattern was released, I knew I wanted to make it someday.

I grabbed a layer cake that I had in stash for years and started it straight away. The pattern is free and you can find more details about this project in the blog post HERE>,

Does this fall as one of the quilting projects? patchwork is part of quilting right?

I sewed this one up for an event to give out the free pattern away! You can check out the free pattern in the blog post for this fun gingham bag.

Simply Stars Half Yards Quilt Flimsy

My latest quilt flimsy made for the year 2022, I have sewn the border on and need to pick a backing for it. It was fun making all the different size blocks for this quilt.

Well, that is it!
