NOTE : I no longer promote Craftsy/Bluprint as I used to due to the way the subscription is currently being carried out. I had the issue of cancelling my subscription when the company changed hand and I find that cancelling through calls is inconvenient. However, I do still stand behind these classes I promote and if you are subscribed, you can surely check these classes I recommend on the platform. If you are looking for another online platform to learn craft such as quilting, do check out CreativeBug. It is much cheaper in subscription (subscribe now 3 months for only $5). Thank you.

3 Blue Quilts For Some Blue Inspiration

Ever since I saw blue quilts pouring from one of my favourite quilters, Edyta Sitar in her book Patches of Blue, I have been dreaming of owning a blue quilt myself. Well, I am in the process of making one, following one of her pattern (not from the book but from the quiltshow.com block of the month Patchwork Barn.

I like to put a quote here that is mentioned by Edyta which really makes me want to make a blue quilt. The versatility. Oh, I just need one.

Blue and white quilt are versatile. They can be used in all seasons. Put some blue decorations with the quilt, then it’ll be a wintery look.

Put some yellows and the quilt and you’ll have a spring look.

Put some reds with the quilt and you’ll have 4th of July.

This week I need to make a quilt for my neighbor recovering from surgery. She saw some left-over material from a bargello I had made and stated she loved. So, I had recently bought a dresden template on Craftsy with the idea of making a patchwork dresden. It went so fast! And the 21″ blocks are beautiful. But finishing will have to wait. I must finish a dress and two blouses for my daughter. She needs them “now”. Oh! But what I really wanted to say is that you inspired me to go ahead and get a machine that I can quilt with. I am excitedly awaiting a Janome 8900 that I purchased on Ebay. Hoping for no unhappy surprises. But the 5 1/2″ throat of my other machine just wasn’t getting the job done. And as much as I like to hand quilt, my arthritis is getting worse. So it is no longer as satisfying or even possible many days. I will tell you how it works out.

  2. This week for me ….. I just finished a donation quilt and I am continuing my work on my niece’s wedding quilt. She and her beau are huge Harry Potter fans so I’m making a Harry Potter bookcase quilt. My niece is a librarian to boot!! Have a good week!
