O well, what have I got into?
Yes, I have started another project. Just could not resist the sew along. I love sew along for the community and seeing other people’s version of the same quilt. I love that we can share thoughts about the quilt as we go along working on it together.
Besides, I love a sampler quilt. Can’t you tell yet?
Previous sampler quilts on the blog:

- Community Sampler Quilt
- Quilt As You Go Sampler
- HST sampler

The quilt along begins 25th September 2020 and ends 25th June 2021! I love a good quilt along.
Picking fabrics for my Sewcialites Quilt
While very tempted to purchase some new bundles for this quilt, I actually resisted and decided to work with the bundle I already have in my stash. I do love all the bundle they recommend though – so I might just buy one for future quilts.
I know one thing for sure is that I love the fabrics more when they are used for a quilt.
For this quilt I am using an older line by Lella Boutique, Little Miss Sunshine.
We all need a little bit of sunshine everyday…any day right.
So here is the bundle with the printed layout. I haven’t coloured it yet, but I am starting with a yellow block so, we’ll see how it goes from there.
Block 1 – Sewcialites Quilt: Harmony

I love that the pattern is designed the way I would do my pieces too… TRIM, TRIM, TRIM.
I love being able to trim the smaller patched pieces cause it allows room for a bit of wonkiness before getting it perfectly sized again.
Either that, or I use triangle papers or printable papers like the one I have to download from the blog HERE>
I watched Kimberly of Fat Quarter Shop LIVE videos HERE> and just love the look of the pressed open seams. Hence I did the same!
It is so satisfying seeing the pressed opened seams laying all flat.
The quilt along is even more fun with Kimberly making the blocks in real time. No fast foward. I have been loving their LIVE videos lately, although I don’t catch them live, I love the chatty slow background while I sew.

Current Favourite Notions
As usual, my favourite notions are all used for making piecing so easy.
These notions have been helping me get more done without having to get up and away from my sewing machine:
- Wool Pressing Mat
- Portable Design Board
- Mini Steam Iron
- Mini Rotating Mat
- Small Squaring Up Ruler
- Small Rotary Cutter
Since I am also sewing in small pockets of time with the newborn in hand most of the other time, these notions have also kept me organized and keep me in the zone while I sew.
I am also testing out these pins! O they are awesome. Super sharp and little did I know that length of pins do make a difference. I am not so sure about the long head though, not a big fan of those but maybe they are easier to pick out?
My Sewcialite quilt Harmony Block
Here is the final block! I love the yellow!!
And, here’s the back!! I am so in love with the seams pressed open.

Let’s join the fun!! And I am not even pressuring myself if I can’t get to finish them all or miss a few of live sessions. I’ll just try and do what I can!
In the end, I actually enjoy the process and that was the reason I decided to join in anyway…
Well, till next time…
Happy quilting!

Beautiful block! The temptation bit me too, and I’ve joined in. I sure hope I can keep up with each new block. I’ve made 2 of the Harmony blocks, one in 6″ and the bigger one. It’s a bit fussy, but so worth it!
So nice to have you joining along too.. keep me updated. I was tempted to do the 3” one but I resisted. I have too many projects and need to keep it simple. 6” is a good size but I am making 9” this time as my blue and white quilt is already 6” blocks.. just varying things to have some fun.
Have fun with the quilt along Kathy!
just what I need, another sewalong. Looks fun though and I enjoy your discussion. Currently downloaded the patterns and will give it a try. Thank you for sharing.
