Rocket Star Quilt Along (3rd May) prep:
- Rocket Star Quilt Pattern
- Starburst Ruler – highly recommend this, there’ll be a template in the pattern, but I sliced through my homemade template twice!
- Stripology Ruler – I am recommending this as I used mine for all those sashing. So, so useful.
- Rocket Star Quilt Kit (Exclude backing) featuring a new line by Basic Grey – NOVA. I love Basic Grey, and this one is no exception! Just gorgeous!

I didn’t get to purchase these before starting mine due to the shipping time to get it to me all the way across the world. Instead I used one of my favourite “hoarded long enough” stash : Denyse Schmidt.
Not surprising, that it consist of florals and geometrics too!
I will be posting the full quilt finish on 3rd May, so make sure you stop by then too. As for now, enjoy the work in progress photos.
Once the components of the blocks were done, piecing the block were a breeze with a line up of production line.
Here is my Stripology Ruler in action:
Excuse the fold – yup I did not press my fabrics beforehand especially big ones (my bad habit!)
Even the sashing is by Denyse Schmidt! I am not sure whether she has any latest fabric line coming out, but I love her past lines…These are all a mix and match from different lines.
Basting on an ironing board
This is my first time doing this and it worked amazingly!!!!
I usually spray baste, but I ran out already of my favourite Basting Spray. It is so hard to get one here in Malaysia, and I can’t get these posted internationally…
So, without basting Spray, my choice was my favourite Basting Pins.
This would not have worked without it.
I would do a tutorial on it someday – I was amazed myself how easy it was and how it worked.
Score! Thankfully!!!
