Why You Need A Blog for Your Craft Business

If you have ever been thinking about making your craft into a little business, there is no better time than now.

We are so blessed that today, a craft business can start literally anywhere, anytime you are in the world. And you are not only limited to making things and selling them – which often is not the best way to go through as it has very little profit margin.

The best recommendation for you to start a craft business is to start with a blog. Whether you intend to sell handmade items or not, it is still the way to go.

A blog is not only great for business, as crafters, a blog serves as a community builder, a place where you store the memories of making and a place to share your talents.

I also believe that a blog is a legacy.

Something you can leave out there for people to continuously learn from you, get inspiration from even when you’re gone. And that is something.

A blog will be your portfolio, a place to establish yourself as a crafter PLUS, the blog itself can make an income.

A blog is not only profitable by its own, it is also great platform to set up a brand and set youself up for more oppurtunities.

It is basically a portfolio of your work which can opens up a lot of opportunities that could possibly be a long life dream of yours.

Note: If you think blogging is dead, or have a little bit of doubt that blogging era is over, pardon me, but you are so wrong.

You may have stopped reading blog consistently since the social media took over, but it is definitely not yet over.

In fact, ever since I came back and focused on building my blog rather than focusing on whether it will get traction or not, I am literally surprised that it can reach a certain pageviews a day!

People go to blogs to read more about a project, to learn more and to get more inspiration.

Most will still go to google or pinterest to search for a certain things, and most likely the answers to the things they look for are in somebody’s blog.

So, there is definitely a way to get income once you have visitors to your blog.

The process of earning is not at all difficult but let me tell you, it is not a get rich fast either. It does require you to put some work ahead and consistently on the blog especially if you plan to earn quite an income from it.

If you are just looking to add pocket money to support your hobby, it is still worth creating a blog.

When I started to become serius about earning from the blog,  I only aimed to earn $100/month to cover up the expenses of my crafting hobby. Little did I know that I could now earn more than $1000 a month! So let me tell you that it is possible.

Click get started now and you’ll be directed to the plans.

Choose according to your need. I would want recommend getting a 3-year plan straight on as you would save more that way. However, if you are tight on budget, a 1-year plan is also sufficient and just remember, that you’ll need to renew in another year time which can fly super fast.

I started with the 2-year plan and feels that it was a good choice. I had time to make an income before it was time again for me to renew.

So this first time is going to be an investment. You can’t build a business without an investment. But with a blog, the investment you’ll need to make is very small as compared to the brick and mortar business.

Now choose a domain name.

You’ll get FREE domain with your Bluehost hosting. Usually you have to buy this domain too.

Domain is basically your website address. Your dot com. or net, or whatever you prefer.

Install WordPress on the host.

WordPress is my choice and most recommended way to easily write blogpost.

Now this is not the same as you were to get a blog on WordPress platform. This WordPress has similar features but with way more flexibility.

You can easily install WordPress with a simple click and follow the instruction on Bluehost

You will choose a simple theme first. Any would do. You can change the theme later. I recommend you not too worry about this too much.

I get the idea of having the perfect look for the blog before publishing it out, and as crafters, we want it to be beautiful. But just don’t overspend time choosing your theme. You can always easily change it and even find ones HERE later on (where I love to find theme for my blog).

Don’t worry about the theme at the beginning, you can later change it easily.

WordPress Dashboard

Now you are ready to blog!

You can see on the left side where it says posts : you can start writing posts already!

Launch Your site.

Once you are ready, launch your site by clicking Bluehost on the left side menu and clicking LAUNCH button.

VOILA! Check out your site and there you have it, a blog to start your business.

Next time login:

You can login to your WordPress Dashboard by simply adding /wp-admin to the end of your website address. Note that at the beginning this may not yet work until Bluehost approve the site launch.
