Today I am going to be sharing with you a free printable I made for 7/8″ hexagon. I have been making a couple of grandmother flower blocks out of the the out of print Bonnie and Camille “Simple Abundance”. I am in the process of making something similar to the quilt on the cover of “Handful of Scraps” book by Edyta Sitar.

Enjoying the cold wintery night here down under, I have been making quite a progress. I am enjoying tiny hand stitches piecing the hexagons together. It has been a great enjoyable process while watching Netflix. A great way to justify yourself for just sitting on the couch. Really — It has been cold and I don’t think I would have been any productive if I don’t have anything in hand.
Anyway, I ran out of my hexagon pieces the other night and decided to make some new ones with quotes on them. So, I made the printable hexagon english paper piecing templates with the reuired size for this quilt I’m making. I am sharing the PDF with you, so you can go and print it off and get some hexies love too.

The printable is made for an easy cut. I cut the hexagon by first slicing through the dotted lines with a rotary cutter (tip: use an old blade – those that won’t cut you fabric well anymore – it will still cut paper well). Then, I snip off the small triangle corners using a small pair of scissors. I hope this is helpful for you to try.
Have fun making hexagons! Share this blogpost or pin it to your pinterest board, so your friends could download their hexies too!
Fabrics I used for this project are mostly Moda Fabrics: Simple Abundance by Bonnie and Camille.
If you are looking for fabrics, I would love to recommend online shopping HERE> I love their customer service, cheap capped international shipping (since I am an international) and their fabric bundle comes in such a beautiful package.

what a neat idea to have your printables. I have plenty right now but I will share your post on my blog so others will see it if that is ok with you.
Thank you so much, Karen!
Sure you can share it…that would be so nice of you.
Rotary blades were made for paper…it’s onky now that we use them in Fabric! Paper will NOT dull them any faster. And using good scissors for paper is also ok…old wives tale!
Thankyou for the hexi template , I enjoy epp very much .
Thank you very much for your tutorial and freebies! Great information. I am just wondering how to cut 5/8inch hexagon templates (I need heaps) do you have any printable templates for this size? Wishing you happy stitching!
Hi Yuriko! I have never made such a small hexagon before. Sorry but I don’t have that size at the moment… have you tried google? it is a rare size, maybe that is why it is not as easily available.
Thank you very very much!!
