FMQ for Beginners Mini Course Day 4, Lesson 3:Stippling or Mendearing Motif

Are you ready?

Stitch tension all set?

Now let’s dive into the most common and easiest, fast free motion quilting motifthat you can basically do on any kind of quilts.

I love this motif and once you’ve mastered it, your quilts are going to finish up so fast!

You do have a pile of un-quilted tops right? This is the one motif that is going to make that pile reducing…. so are you ready to start?

Watch the video and make sure you do all the tasks. Remember, don’t skip a task. Each task is designed to give you exposure and practice which will surely improve your free motion quilting skill.

Do take your own sweet time. Each person has a different learning pace. So, take your time, do more quilted pieces or doodle if needed.

You want to remember to relax too! Loosen up your shoulder every now and then and be aware of your breathing cause sometimes we forget to breathe when we are tense up 🙂

Tasks for this lesson:

  • Print out the Work Sheet to practice doodles
  • Watch the video (pick up and note down tips and trick that might help you during quilting this motif)
  • Make one sampler sandwich with the final overall look – random meandering stipples

Remember, practice makes progress! and don’t give up. Just slowly and keep going. Have a break and release shoulder strain. Posture is important.

Alright, once you are done with that, you are ready for the next lesson which will come tomorrow. Day 4: Learning the Stippling Motif

Till then, I’ll see you in the next lesson!
