Last year I joined the quilt along, Sewcial Bee Sampler hosted by Sharon and Maureen. And while that is still a work in progress, I decided to jump in the bandwagon for the new sew-along by them this year, the Community Sampler.
You can find the QAL details HERE>
This time I am only making one version. ( I made two version of the Sewcial Bee Sampler)
And this time I will be piecing it the normal way as oppose to the quilt-as-you-go method I did with the Sewcial Bee Sampler.
Just to change things up a bit.
I’ll share with you my fabric pick in this post and the first 4 blocks I made! I will also tell you why I love this sew-along so much.

Fabric Pull
Since this sew along is hosted by both AGF designers, it was a natural for me to go towards AGF fabrics. I do love AGF. Their fabrics are soft and there are many of my favourite designers who design for AGF.
As usual, I would pick fabrics from my stash first. This time pick various floral fabrics of Art Gallery Fabrics.
Most of these are either in the AGF Fusion Bloom Bundle or The Garden Dreamer. I may add a couple more if I need to as I go. I may also buy a background colour and backing fabrics for this quilt.
Pretty much all kind of colours mixed, rainbow but mostly pinks and greens maybe.
#3 thing I love about this QAL
- I love the patterns and the instructions sheet are beautifully created. They are designers after all, but they are so beautiful. You know what I am talking about if you joined too.
- All the beautiful version that is shared over on Instagram with #communitysampler.
- Maureen and Sharon are both active host, commenting and giving lots of support. which makes the community a whole lot more engaging too.
If you want to join in, it’s not too late. Find the details and instruction for the QAL HERE>
Here are my first 4 blocks:
BLOCK #1 : Kitty Corner
BLOCK #2 : Dovecote
I love this block so much! I love the green Bougainvillea Fabrics by BariJ. Maybe I need to stock up on more of that.
BLOCK #3 : Ribbon Star
Lots of yellows in this block. I love how fun it turned out. the fussy cut lemon is cute isn’t?
BLOCK #4 : Cactus
for this block, it will remain as halves as the final blocks will be placed with an on-point layout.
All the blocks were fun to make. And I love that this time Sharon and Maureen made the each pieces trimmable so we can get better at getting the exact size. I always love trimming each individual piece.
Here is all of them together so far.
What do you think?
Are you joining along?
Let me know if you are!
