Hi!
Today is my day to show you my stamp!
If you are new here, do stay around too!
My stamp has a mushroom and a cloud, a number 9 for my birthday (9th September) and Australia as the country I live in currently.

I used my so amateur skill of needleturn for this, I thought it’d be fun to try more needleturn and it was sure fun.

Well, I hope you enjoy my littlemushroom stamp!
Jump in to these lovelies for more stamps!

Thank you Thearica and Madame Samm for hosting the bloghop!

Hi!
How times fly by, Its Thursday already!
Last weekend was a quick one with very tiny time for sewing, and this week I haven’t put my hand on that sewing machine yet! *sigh*
Anyway, last weekend we planned and did a surprise baby shower party for a friend soon to pop with a baby boy! It was definitely fun, we did spend some ladies chatting time too till late.
Baby Shower
Just a little centrepiece for the party, some toys borrowed from my little one, a cake I quickly whipped up, and some printed  onesies shirts as banners
Baby Shower_Playing Props
The ladies who created chaos at Pancake Parlour! Haha
Baby Shower_Gift Time
Me and mum to be and the gift – quilt!
Previously to that, of course, I was busy with that quilt in her hand- as the present for the little one coming!
Modern Log Cabin Baby Quilt
I love the mushroom…and the colours of this line is so lovely! I used several pieces of fat eights of Sarah Watson’s Indian Summer.

Modern Log CAbin_scrappy Borders in the making
And because it was fat eights, none was enough for sashing, so I decided to do scrappy ones! Sew them in rows and press.

Then cut into sashing strips
Stippling Baby Quilt
I did a simple free motion stippling – which was fun! Have not done this for so long!

Winter time is really not kind to photography session… and yes, that’s my little helper peeking there. As usual! Hehe.
Well, that’s all for today, I hope to get some sewing done later today, and will be up with About A Quilt Sampler QAL post soon!
XOXO

NOTE : I no longer promote Craftsy/Bluprint as I used to due to the way the subscription is currently being carried out. I had the issue of cancelling my subscription when the company changed hand and I find that cancelling through calls is inconvenient. However, I do still stand behind these classes I promote and if you are subscribed, you can surely check these classes I recommend on the platform. If you are looking for another online platform to learn craft such as quilting, do check out CreativeBug. It is much cheaper in subscription (subscribe now 3 months for only $5). Thank you.

Hi!

I am just having fun and thought I’d link this recently made quilt to Ellison’s Modern Mini Quilt Challenge.

Feather Mini

The main point of this quilt was for me to use the technique I learn from Sarah Fielke’s craftsy class : needle turn appliqué! I never would have thought that needle-turn appliqué would be this easy until I tried her method!

I was aiming for minimalist design with some fussy cut feather off Martha Negley’s feather collection and freehand leaves shape. I got my bundle of Martha Negley’s from Westwood Acres.

The colour choices : not really me isn’t? Haha! I was trying to run a bit from my normal bright colours – I kind of regret a bit for the choice.

And as for the quilting, not so minimalist ha? I was aiming to practice feathers. Hence the feathers everywhere. It was totally fun, and definitely has boosted my confidence to do more of quilted feathers.

Well, I hope you will have fun hopping onto Ellison’s blog for more minis! I know I am.

MQGC - Canberra Map Quilt - block c4
This is our project for this year : Canberra’s Map. We are planning to make this as a raffle quilt. This year is Canberra’s Centenary Year which makes it so perfect for this quilt to be born!
I am really looking forward to out next meeting so that we can gather up to see what we already have so far. It is so exciting to see everyone’s version of their block which represent each grid box of the map!

Hi!
Finally I get to show you what I made for the Make it Right challenge! (update:this challenge has passed June 2013)
When I got the fabric, I just know that I don’t want to make it into a quilt. I just want to think a bit out of the box. Indeed I did – and when I want to submit it, I was thinking “hm… which category should it be in? Quilt? Apparel or Home Deco?” Finally I submit it into Home Deco.

I would really appreciate it if you could take a bit of time to like and repin on pinterest!
Click HERE to pinterest pin and click repin or like, because that is the vote they count for the challenge.
Anyway, I made this because the car seat is dull and of course I need to sew something to cheer it up!
And just because I made the backing as nice, I made it reversible too! The improved piecing is the back. Even the back pocket panel can be reversible!

You can refer to this post for the type of material and threads I used for this project.
Here are more photos: I quilt as happily as I can be. With very little planning really. I was just having fun most of the time! Glad it made it to the end!

All quilting was done on my . Bunnings (hardware store here in Australia) Glove works as good as machinger’s glove and cost only 1/3 of machinger! And the colour is blue!
The ruler story : I do not change foot while quilting this despite of many straight lines,  because I can’t be that patience! LOL.. I find this Fine LIne Quilter’s Ruler helpful to use on domestic machine, but sometimes foot can jump over it too! talk about dangerous (imagine the needle snapping on it)..you can find the ruler HERE > if you are interested.
Update: I love the ruler now that I can use it with my non-hopping foot!

Hi!

I have been spending late nights watching Videos on Craftsy.
And I can’t thank you enough to Craftsy for sharing the Quilt Con Lecture series 2013 for free! I feel like I was there!!

If you haven’t joined craftsy, go on and try it! (updated: Craftsy in now MyBluprint – sign up here). There is so much to learn and a lot of class choices these days. I just have to keep resisting myself so that I don’t go broke..LOL.

QuiltCon Lecture Series 2013 by Modern Quilt Guild

Anyway, watching Quilt Con Lecture series made me feel so much closer to my idols and bloggers who have very much inspired me in this quilting world. I love love listening to the lecture series. I learned a lot from each of the lectures and feel overwhelmed with inspiration!

They are so many wonderful people out there and I appreciate every small bits they share.

As a conclusion from all what I learn, I feel like I know my goals now and that is – Have fun and never define or limit myself to what I should only do. As long as I am having fun, it would be great! I am not a quilter but a maker (Jacquie’s saying). Just do whatever I am comfortable with (Angela Walters saying), and I was pretty much inspired by David and Amy Butler too on their adventures of travelling and how simple camera and setting could capture such wonderful photos..

So, my latest adventure would be something related to needleturn applique! I am just jumping into this. I have always admired Baltimore quilts and other beautiful hand appliqued quilt. I just think that I don’t have the patience enough to deal with them.

But.. I was sooo inspired when this book reached me. I love Sarah’s method of making quilt which most of them just grow as she goes. I think I like that.. Seem so me.

Sarah Fielke Hand Quilted with Love

And after seeing one of Canberra’s Modern Quilt Guild member, Danielle version of Millefiori quilt, I know I have to try it! You can see Danielle’s gorgeous version here.

Sarah Fielke -Millefiori Quilt_ Hand Quilted with love
Together along with the book, I bought myself a class on Craftsy with Sarah Fielke, Big techniques from small scraps. It was definitely worth it as I learned more and I just love listening to the teacher. Videos makes me feel so much closer to them!

Hi!
It has been a while since my last W.I.P post. Linking this up with Lee’s at Freshly Pieced

WIP Wednesday at Freshly Pieced

Not that I have none W.I.P, but have found that blogging does take time – and sometime I am short of that. Who isn’t right…
Anyway, last week I have been spending most of time with the Make it Right Challenge and finally it got done! Here is a bit of sneak peek. I’ll do a full post on 7th June when you can vote it too! O please do! 🙂
Last weekend we spent in Tathra Beach. The view was beautiful.
While DH goes fishing,  I ended up in the apartment making these:
Paper Piecing - Penrose tile
Paper Piecing - Penrose tile - fussy cutting
Paper Piecing - Penrose tile - block cut
Paper Piecing - Penrose tile - half way there

It is going to be another Penrose Tile which I made a while back for Travelling Pic Stitch.
Now, it is still not yet appliqued to its background. I am going to do it when the new version of the penrose tile is done. Hopefully.

Penrose Tile _ To be applique

I also worked on Modern Quilt Guild Canberra’s quilt block. We are all assigned to blocks based on Canberra’s Map. What a wonderful idea Crystal and Nicole had for the quilt. I am pretty sure it will turn out pretty good!

Spring Blogger's Quilt Festival - AmysCreativeSide.com
Hi!
My first time to join the blogger’s quilt festival this year! Yeay me.
You have seen this quilt if you have visited my blog before. and currently is on my header as well.

I named it “I Heart Quilt” and I entered the quilt in Throw Quilt category.

VM-I Heart Quilt - Walking Quilt Look2

This is my favourite quilt so far. Its mine to cuddle under too.
Story of the quilt:
Once upon late last year, a bundle of Vintage Modern fat eight bundle was cut and a complete quilt was born early this year- making it the quilt of 2013.

As a new quilter, it is only safe for littlemushroomcap to play around with bundles of fabrics that were already matched by awesomely talented designers like Camille and Bonnie.
It all started with a small heart block.
Then it grew into a  four patch heart block in the same tones of colour.

The whole design of this quilt was on the go planning. The sashings, and the little red corner stones all was added while planning on the design board.

Once the top finished, it looks as if it needs a bit more border, so a white on white border was sewn to it.

After the border was sewn in, it still look a bit plain, so littlemushroomcap decided to add pretty scallops! So, through the net, littlemushroomcap search on how to do scallop and lastly she decided to use folded paper to trace over for the scallop.
Lastly but not least, the quilt needs a binding to finish it up.
Through the little stash she stumble upon the polka dot in red fabrics which was just enough for the bias binding of this quilt. What a lucky chance.

Binding Scallop2
and now, the quilt was done, cuddled and loved and they live happily ever after..
The end. LOL.
Anyway, I love, love. love this quilt. It will leave a lot of memory for me as a beginning of my love to quilting.
And I will keep this quilt with its name. I Heart Quilt because I do. I do love quilts…..and probably a bit addicted to them too!
