Sunday Slow Stitching #05

Welcome to the series of my slow stitching projects documentation.

Basically, I wanted to document the slow progress of my hand-stitched projects on a weekly/forthnightly basis for a couple of reasons:

  1. I wanted to make myself accountable and make sure I do sit and enjoy hand-stitching at least one session per week.
  2. Documenting progress is always something I love to do. In fact, that is why this blog started anyway.
  3. To create excitement even with little progress. Small progress does matter!
  4. I hope I can inspire you to do the same too. So share your slow stitching projects you’re working on too in the comments.

Community Sampler Quilt Progress : Quilt Top Done

Since I posted the start of this sampler quilt, I haven’t updated here on the blog about the progress. However, I have been actively updating most blocks on Instagram. Mostly because that is where everything is happening instantly and the sew-along is going on there with the hashtag #communitysampler. 

I was saving the blogpost for bigger milestones. And today, is the one of those. I am sharing with you the final look of the quilt top!

I am sharing with you today how I quilted block 22 – Mosaic. In this post, you’ll learn how to free motion quilt a meandering leaf motif and two more motif to quilt a flying geese block.

If you are new here, this post is a part of my quilt-as-you-go my Sewcial Bee Sampler, a sew-along hosted by Sharon Holland and Maureen Cracknell. I plan to share along the process with some tips and tutorial.

As usual, I have two blocks made for two quilts, one with custom quilting and one with allover quilting. Both would be a great practice if you are looking towards improving your free-motion skill. I am still practicing myself, especially with the custom quilting. I am learning as I go, so let’s do this together!
