Baby Quilt

Category

Hi!

A couple of months ago I made this quilt but never got to share with you here on the blog.

This was a really super quick quilt. Big blocks and no measurements really. I just slash and sew – then trim to size. I love this line, super cute for unisex babies. The fabrics are all from Giraffe Crossing by Riley Blake.

I really enjoyed the simple stippling on this quilt.

The backing with leftover strips. All random. No measurements really.

I guess nothing beats stripey binding! Yeah?

Baby quilts are fun, quick and much loved. Now the quilt lives with a cute baby and am so happy to see it being used.

Hugs,

Amira

The quilt was made using just one single jelly roll following the wonderful tutorial by Fat Quarter Shop for this quilt. The pattern is called the Jelly Roll Jam Quilt II which you can download from HERE.

A baby quilt made for a special baby just born last two week. She is still in the hospital in the incubator, but she is strong and healthy. Hopefully, she’ll gain enough weight and would be ready for the outside world very soon.

The process was very quick and it is definitely the perfect way to use up some of the jelly rolls I have. This one is by Riley blake, Seaside by October Afternoon. I love a lot of the fabrics in this line. So many basics and love the colours in this line.

Hi!
How times fly by, Its Thursday already!
Last weekend was a quick one with very tiny time for sewing, and this week I haven’t put my hand on that sewing machine yet! *sigh*
Anyway, last weekend we planned and did a surprise baby shower party for a friend soon to pop with a baby boy! It was definitely fun, we did spend some ladies chatting time too till late.
Baby Shower
Just a little centrepiece for the party, some toys borrowed from my little one, a cake I quickly whipped up, and some printed  onesies shirts as banners

The ladies who created chaos at Pancake Parlour! Haha

Me and mum to be and the gift – quilt!
Previously to that, of course, I was busy with that quilt in her hand- as the present for the little one coming!
Modern Log Cabin Baby Quilt
I love the mushroom…and the colours of this line is so lovely! I used several pieces of fat eights of Sarah Watson’s Indian Summer.

And because it was fat eights, none was enough for sashing, so I decided to do scrappy ones! Sew them in rows and press.

Then cut into sashing strips
Stippling Baby Quilt
I did a simple free motion stippling – which was fun! Have not done this for so long!

Winter time is really not kind to photography session… and yes, that’s my little helper peeking there. As usual! Hehe.
Well, that’s all for today, I hope to get some sewing done later today, and will be up with About A Quilt Sampler QAL post soon!

Polka Dot Binding. Polka dots are always great as bindings. The pop of white dots here and there makes it more whimsical!

Binding Scallop2

I just can’t stop loving the scalloped edge! I think this is the icing on the cake for this quilt. I just love it frames the whole quilt.

Hi!

I finished my first Emmaline Bag. I say its the first as I do have plan to make more..Love it.. The instruction were clear and makes everything so smooth and easy!

Emmaline Bag Done

Lately I have not been a fan of large bag since I like to stuff things in my handbags, the bigger it is the more things I put in – which really is unnecessary.. but since this bag is done, I think I might turn my head around again for large bags.. LOL

Ooo and that knit books – I plan to start learning how to knit..and socks too.. aren’t I being too ambitious.. LOL..

Emmaline Bag Done 2

I made this bag using a corduroy fabric I bought during one of the thrift trip.. It was just enough to make this bag. though it was a medium weight fabric, I sewed my Emmaline bag with fusible fleece anyway. The interior is by Michael Miller, Dumb Dot Citron. I love it. Bright and cheery..

Well, apart from that, a friend of mine just gave birth to a boy and I decided to whip up a quick modern quilt.. I am almost done with it, but today I’ll be sharing a sneak peek. Will post a whole quilt photo tomorrow..

w.i.p modern baby quilt

Oh yes, and I have been playing with a cute fox … Love this organic cotton and design from Monaluna. I got my set of Monaluna Fox Hollow bundle at fabricworm. Fabulous!

Tried a concentric circle quilting with a walking foot too. Thanks to this tutorial.

Round Bucket Bag Sneek Peak
Well, I guess that’s it for today.
Have a fun weekend!!

Hi!

I finish sashing my blocks for the Vintage Modern Heart Quilt and decided to use red squares in between vertical and horizontal sashes. Red seems to be the right choice to finish it up I think.

Vintage modern heart quilt pieced top

I love it – it look so girlish and even made my son look a bit girly on top of it.. but the quilts not for him, which is good – he need to look boyish as he is.

Hm, I tried taking the whole quilt top but in our tiny apartment is a bit hard.. and my little guy is helping too..

Vintage modern heart quilt pieced top_3

Well, to tell you the truth, the quilt top is not yet done. I need to do a border and I am thinking of scallops.. It would make the quilt even soft and sort of girlish. Besides, I would love to try scallop edges…but.. I ran out of the white fabric and wadding – and my next budget of fabrics is not until November as we are on seriously tight budget (need some money for travelling back to Malaysia for a three weeks break in October).. So, this will be an UFO for a while I guess.

Do you have a quilt that is just about to be done, but you ran out of something for it? Would you go straight and buy it or would you keep the project as an UFO?

Well, happy sharing with you guys!

XOXO
